Interview

I had an interview today for a Unit Helper position at the hospital. It is the position that I am volunteering in - and a job opening came up that was too good to refuse. It would be a really great opportunity for me - and I'm excited but trying not to get my hopes up because there are plenty more qualified people that applied.

Ang - I saw Dan, {the interview was on his floor}....but he looked busy and I was in another room. You can tell him he looks like he knows what he's doing though ;)

I'll keep you updated on the news -- even if it's bad news. I will find out early next week.

why do men get married?? so they can find the butter - of course!

I think marriage is one of the most complex relationships. No one has it figured out - but some thrive at it, some don't. One of the struggles these days is finding an even balance in the roles. It's no longer socially acceptable to have the typical roles that were the norm 50 years ago....but yet we get comfortable and the husband fills in certain jobs, while the wife fills in others. They differ from relationship to relationship, and there's nothing wrong as long as there is flexibility within those roles.

Right now - I'm struggling with the home improvements. I'm complaining that Garnet didn't get all these things done while we were living here - but then I'm wondering "Why didn't I just pick up the drywall mud and the paintbrush? Why didn't I get the screwdriver out and fix the handle?" In the new house there are a few projects that I am determined to tackle myself. I have a few walls of flowery wallpaper that will give me an aneurysm if I look at it too long. I'll keep you updated on those fun projects and we'll see if I should just leave it up to "the man of the house" :)

Last night I was grocery shopping and I came a across a cute conversation that reminded me that although sometimes women feel like they need a man to do certain things -- the men feel the same way. In the dairy isle a man is holding his cell phone with a confused and slightly frustrated look plastered across his face;

"Hon, you have butter written on the list....."

I assume the voice on the other end was his wfie or girlfriend and most likely was just as confused as to why he was calling about butter.

"Well, how come everything I see here says Margarine?!....all of it; 'margarine, margarine, margarine."

I had every intention of being the nice friendly helping neighbour - but as soon as we made eye contact and he gave this shrug of "yeah, like I'm supposed to be able to find butter - what is she thinking??" I started to laugh and pointed him about 3 steps to the left where the shelves upon shelves of butter was located.
He was thankful...and probably a little embarrassed.

I smiled to myself. As much as we piss eachother off, and shake our heads at the opposite sex.....and whether it's socially acceptable or not; we really need eachother.

If you give a mouse a cookie......

He's going to ask for a glass of milk, right?

Asking Garnet to do a few small 'fix-ups' before the closing date......

.....is like giving a child a bag of candy and asking them to only have one.....

....and soon they'll have another.....

.....and another....

and before you know it -- the whole bag of candy is gone.

Or in this case a bathroom wall -- and every other room is prepped for paint. Posted by Picasa

No one can ever accuse my husband of being lazy - that's for sure.

Our Home as of March 31st Posted by Picasa

WE ARE MOVING!!!!

We got the house, and ours is sold - all the papers signed....it's a go on March 31st!!

I would have been updating all week but there were so many things going on and I didn't want to jinx anything. Some of you (ahem...Ang!! :) couldn't wait for an update -- but I was so excited, I didn't mind telling you all about it!! (and we are going to be sssoooo close!)

We bought a 3 bedroom Semi, at the end of a cul-de-sac with a big backyard!! There's a beautiful huge tree in the fenced yard. We have lived in Apartments and a Condo -- so these little things are pretty big to us!! Like that fact that we have a driveway, with a car port so that I don't have to be drenched walking from my car in the rain! We can have our pool and trampoline right outside our door instead of a 20 minute drive to the In-Laws! I can try to do a garden -- even though I don't have an ounce of a green thumb in me! It's in a great part of town, a quiet street where the kids have regular street hockey games. We are close to a bunch of friends (a bike ride away) - it's going to be a great place for Tim to be a kid!

I am so excited. Sooooooo excited I might scream....

A lil bit of braggin'

Polar Bears; By Tim

They swim in cold water.

They make footprints. Posted by Picasa

Tim wrote this book as a home project and brought it in to school. The teacher displayed it in the reading centre of the classroom for the month while they studied Polar Bears. I am soooo proud of him. He did such a great job - and worked so hard to pick all the pictures and write all the sentences. These are a few of my favorite pages from it.

The teacher wrote a comment on each page and then in the back wrote "....You and your hard work make me so very proud to be your teacher!"

We got his report card back the same day and were on top of the world. I mean, we think he is pretty terrific, but when a teacher writes all the kind and amazing things about him it just makes my heart melt. She finished the report with this paragraph;

"Tim brings a smile to all faces whether he be in the classroom, around the school or in the playground. His sense of humour and originality make him such a special part of our Kindergarten community. Tim, you are truly a fabulous person with such a brightness about you!"

I am a lucky Mom.

My Husband bought me a house for Valentine's Day!!!!!

(or atleast that's the excuse he uses for not getting me anything else ;)

I think I see a wrinkle....

I'm officially 26 today. Is it just me or does any age past 25 just seem so OLD!? I always remember thinking of this age and thinking grey hair and wrinkles. It's funny; I'm still using a teenage facewash and an anti-aging face cream.

I think I'm confused.

Tim's teacher (who is turning 30 this year) summed it up quite well today. I said "I don't feel that old - but I'm looking for a new wrinkle cream if you know of any."

And she replied with a sparkle in her eye and said "I know I don't feel my age but it always gets me when I look in the mirror and think 'I actually look like a WOMAN now!"

I guess we are all little girls at heart.

I received many thoughtful emails, gifts, little gestures of love and even a loving sisterly ode on Hilsy's blog -- I appreciate all the amazing people in my life so much. My friend Sandra is taking me out for a yummy kid free meal tonight, and I am stuffing myself full of pasta and wine and not working out for even a second today!!! SO there!

Apparently 2x10 is 20 -- not 200 as previously believed....oh, and the earth is round too!!

95% on another math test - sounds great, unless you saw the mistakes I made. The test was on fractions....so both my mistakes were about 6 lines down in solving the equation. In one of them I re-wrote 7 7/8 as 7 1/8...and then finished the equation. Obviously finishing with the wrong answer. And, as the title suggests, my second mistake was a "my-brain-is-fried-this-far-in-the-equation and I think 2x10 is really 200....."

Maybe my TB test and Tetanus shot went to my brain yesterday....which, by the way, was very painful. I couldn't turn my head to the right at all, and my whole arm ached. Those things scare the living bejeebies out of me.

We showed our house again today -- we've had about 5 showings this far. It's great and exciting but it just sucks when I have to keep my house spotless and then try to tidy and scrub as quick as possible when they call and say they'll be here in an hour. Yes, I am one of 'those' people that don't make my bed....aaah!!!!! I know, the horror of it all.

Sunday, February 5

Obviously, the next logical answer...

"Garnet, what kind of dressing do you want for your salad- French or Italian?" I purposely left out homemade because he doesn't like it. He chose French.

"Tim - what about you?"

I point to the French and Italian - he shakes his head and points to the Homemade Vinaigrette.

"I want English."

Wednesday, February 1

Tired...but surviving.

90% on my first test, 100% on my second!!! Why was I worried about this whole math thing anyway?? So far, a breeze - but I've been warned that it gets harder.
(and yes, Hilsy....I remembered how to do division ;)

And this is Tim waiting for snow so he can use his brand new GT.....poor kid, stupid global warming!
(you'll also notice he's into picking out his own clothes lately - good thing we have "weekend clothes" {which this selection is from} and "good clothes"{which are a little safer on the eyes}.....)
